Phoenix, Ariz. - In their second game of the day against #15 Oregon State, the Lady Raiders tied the game in the top of the seventh but were unable to close in on the Beavers.
The Beavers struck first scoring one run in the first inning and that would end the scoring until the seventh. Tech could not get their bats going today as they were out hit 11-5. The bottom of the third was a superb defensive effort on the part of the Lady Raiders, with the team turning it's second double play of the game. Pitcher Kristina Blair would snag a Beaver line drive and throw the batter out at first. Blair (1-2) pitched seven full innings and gave up two earned runs.
The seventh seemed a little bleak but outfielder Amanda Douglas brought life back into the game scoring pinch hitter Tiffany Harrington from second. Harrington entered the game for designated player Lisa Lawler after she bunted to get on base. This would put the teams on equal grounding but the Beavers did not roll over for the Lady Raiders and they scored on a single to end the game 2-1.
Tech (2-5) faces the University of Massachusetts tomorrow at 11:00 a.m.
