Texas Tech Earns No. 2 Seed in Midwest

LUBBOCK, Texas - The NCAA Women's Basketball Selection Committee announced the field for the 2003 NCAA Division I Women's Basketball Tournament this afternoon, selecting the Texas Tech Lady Raiders as the No. 2 seed in the Midwest Regional. The Lady Raiders face No. 15-seed Southwest Missouri State in first-round action at the United Spirit Arena in Lubbock on Sun., March 23. Game times will be announced early in the upcoming week.
In addition to the Lady Raiders and Lady Bears, No. 7-seed UC-Santa Barbara and No. 10-seed Xavier will make the trip to Lubbock. This is the sixth-straight NCAA sub-regional hosted by Texas Tech.
The winner of the sub-regional championship game on Tue., March 25, will advance to the Sweet Sixteen in Albuquerque, N.M., next weekend. Duke is the No. 1 seed in the Midwest Region.
