Texas Tech Golf Team Finishes 13th

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech improved eight strokes from the first round, but couldn't climb the ladder, as the Red Raiders remained in 13th place in the final round of the Cleveland Golf Collegiate Championships Tuesday in Aiken, S.C.
Andrew Dresser (Carrollton, Texas/Creekview) led the Red Raiders with a pair of 73s and finished tied in 24th place. Erik Stenman (Tampere, Finland) and Mark Hull (San Antonio, Texas/Churchill) finished tied in 42nd and 58th places, respectively, with two-round totals of 149 and 152. Brooks Kelly (Sierra Vista, Ariz./Buena) and Brad Jacobson (Bryant, S.D./Hamlin) posted totals of 154 and 155 and finished tied in 66th and 70th places.
USC-Aiken's Aaron Black claimed medallist honors with a 138 and a narrow one-stroke win over the tournament runner-up.
The local schools dominated the top three in the team standings as College of Charleston (569), South Carolina-Aiken (574) and the University of South Carolina (575) paced the field. Kansas (577) and Texas-Arlington (578) finished fourth and fifth, while Vanderbilt (582), Virginia Commonwealth (583), Maryland (584), Florida State (587) and Georgia State (589) rounded out the top 10. Furman (590), South Florida (593), Tech (596), Tulane (606) and Presbyterian College (612) finished 11th through 15th.
