LUBBOCK, Texas - The Lady Raider basketball team has signed Enrica Johnson to a National Letter of Intent to attend Texas Tech University in the fall of 2003. Tech has now inked four student-athletes, including the three who signed last fall: Brooke Baughman (Canyon, Texas), Tawanna Flowers (Levelland, Texas) and Alesha Robertson (Plainview, Texas).
"We are very excited about adding a player of Enrica's talent level to our team," said head coach Marsha Sharp. "She not only is a terrific athlete but also a great person. And will be a valuable asset to our team."
Johnson, a 6-1 forward from Waco, Texas, was a standout player at LaVega High School where she was named first team all-state and first team all-district as a senior. She was also named Super Centex Player of the Year as she averaged 21.5 points, 12.5 rebounds, 5.1 blocks, 4.8 steals and 3.3 assists during her senior season. As a junior, Johnson was selected first team all-state and first team all-district, while being named Co-Most Valuable Player of District 17-3A. She was named Defensive Player of the Year in her district as a sophomore and was named the district Newcomer of the Year as a freshman.
