LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team will close out its exhibition schedule this weekend when they play their final two home games of the spring season. The first match is scheduled for Sat., April 12, when they host Angelo State University at 12:30 p.m. followed by the Texas Tech Alumni squad at 7:00 p.m.
The team has split a pair of exhibition games earlier this spring, defeating the Rio FC of Albuquerque, 3-1, on March 1. Tech returned to the field the following morning but failed to produce the same results as they fell to Dallas' Sting '86, 2-1. Against Rio FC, the Red Raiders got a pair of goals from junior Catie Arsenault (Keller, Texas) and sealed the victory when the opposition inadvertently knocked in a corner kick attempt by freshman Karen Stephens (Denton, Texas). The highlight of the Sting game was when sophomore Nicole Frilot (Albuquerque, New Mexico) scored a goal in the second half.
The Red Raiders will be returning to the field Saturday for the first time since the cancellation of a match with the New Zealand National Team scheduled for March 28 due to the tragic events surrounding the death of freshman defender Allison Horn (Colleyville, Texas).
