DALLAS, Texas - Two Texas Tech women's tennis players took home All-Big 12 honors this week as the doubles duo of Beverly Dawson and Irina Tereschenko were honored by the league coaches.
The women's side produced 12 All-Big 12 singles from 10 different schools, including co-champions Baylor and Texas A&M (both 9-2 in league dual play).
Baylor senior Vida Mulec is one of the headliners on the contingent, which also includes Texas A&M upperclassmen Jessica Roland and Ashley Hedberg. One half of the outstanding Steinbock twin sisters, Kansas' Courtney Steinbock (sibling of twin teammate Kristen), joins Kansas State senior No. 1 singles player Petra Sedlmajerova along with Missouri junior Urska Juric and sophomore Katka Sevcikova on the women's ledger.
Juric-Sevcikova and Oklahoma's Anda Perianu (10-1 to win the No. 1 singles crown in Big 12 activity)-Heather Saluri are just two of the stellar eight (due to ties in the voting for top six doubles' groups) tandems on the all-league squad. The Colorado duo of Lia Dimingo-Dominique Lemperle and Kansas State's Sedlmajerova-Paulina Castillejos are two of the nationally-renowned doubles teams along with Texas Tech's senior-junior twosome of Beverly Dawson-Irina Tereschenko. CU's Lemperle and OU's Perianu were two of the highly-rated All-Big 12 singles choices as well.
