Lady Raiders No. 1 in Coaches' Poll

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's basketball team is ranked No. 1 in the latest USA Today/ESPN/WBCA Division I Top 25 Coaches' Poll which was released today. It marks the first time the Lady Raiders have been ranked No. 1 during the season. Tech was No. 1 in the final coaches' poll after winning the National Championship in 1993.
Tech, who is the first Big 12 school to be No. 1 since the inception of the league, received 976 total points and 27 first-place votes to take over the No. 1 spot. Duke came in at No. 2 with 948 total points and 10 first-place votes. Texas was third with 916 points and two first-place votes. Rounding out the top five was Connecticut at No. 4 and Tennessee at No. 5.
Tech will open Big 12 Conference play on Saturday, Jan. 10 by hosting Oklahoma State at 7 p.m. at the United Spirit Arena.
