Big 12 Preseason Media Poll Announced

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced its 2004-05 Preseason Media poll today. The vote was conducted among Big 12 media representatives. The coaches preseason poll was released in October.
The Texas Longhorns, who won the championship outright in 2003 and shared the title with Kansas State in 2004, were picked to win their third-straight title.
UT received 12 first-place votes and totaled 166 points. Baylor was picked second with 147 points. Both Texas and Baylor advanced to the NCAA Sweet 16 last year. Kansas State received two first-place votes and finished third in the poll with 136 points followed by Texas Tech in fourth (124) and Oklahoma fifth (118). Colorado and Iowa State tied for sixth (83), Missouri eighth (78) and Nebraska ninth (57). Texas A&M finished 10th (41), Kansas was 11th (35) and Oklahoma State 12th (24).Colorado, Kansas State, Missouri, Oklahoma and Texas Tech joined Texas and Baylor in the 2004 NCAA Tournament while Iowa State and Nebraska competed in the WNIT, giving the Big 12 nine postseason teams.2004-05 Big 12 Conference Women's Basketball Media Preseason Poll 1.
