Red-Black Game Scheduled for April 17

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech will begin preparations for the 2004 season next month when it conducts its annual spring drills followed by the traditional Red-Black Game at Jones SBC Stadium.
The annual Red-Black Game will be played April 17 at 11 a.m. in Jones SBC Stadium. The Red Raiders will begin spring practice Wed., March 24, and will conduct a total of 15 workouts that will culminate Mon., April 19.
The Texas Tech coaching staff will host its annual coaching clinic April 2-3 in conjunction with practices on both days. The alumni golf tournament kicks off Red-Black Game weekend festivities Fri., April 16. The alumni game will precede the Red-Black game at 10 a.m. Saturday.
Texas Tech returns seven starters from an offense that led the NCAA in passing and total offense in 2003. Those returning include RB Taurean Henderson, who rushed for 10 touchdowns and caught six scoring passes last season en route to leading the team in scoring; WR Nehemiah Glover, who caught 77 passes for 1,081 yards and nine touchdowns; and giant OT Daniel Loper, who anchored an offensive line that improved its sacks allowed total from 46 in 2002 to 25 in 2003.
Defensively, the Red Raiders welcome back nine starters, including DE Adell Duckett. The senior-to-be led the Big 12 Conference with 24.5 tackles for loss and 14 sacks. LB Brock Stratton returns in the middle after registering 95 tackles in his true freshman season last year. FS Vincent Meeks also returns after grabbing four picks last season, while CB Chad Johnson is back after logging two interceptions in his true freshman year.
