LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's basketball coach Marsha Sharp announced today that junior center Cisti Greenwalt has fractured her right ankle and will be out for the remainder of the season. Greenwalt will have the ankle surgically repaired later this week. Greenwalt fractured her ankle during the first half of the Lady Raiders' game at Missouri Tuesday night.
"This is just another blow to our team," said Sharp. "I feel bad for our players and our fans to have to endure this adversity. I have confidence that our team will respond as they have all season long."
The Clovis, N.M., native had played in all 26 games this year, starting eight of them. Greenwalt was averaging 7.9 points and 5.7 rebounds a game, while leading the team in blocks with 57. At Texas A&M Feb. 14, Greenwalt became the school record holder for career blocks and has 195 in her three years at Tech.
