LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech Department of Athletics officially announced today that next season's football game at Kansas, originally scheduled for Sat., Oct. 16, has been moved to Sat., Sept. 25, to accommodate a request made by the University of Kansas.
To avoid playing on its fall break weekend, KU officials made the request to move the game to each team's open weekend. Tech Head Coach Mike Leach and Director of Athletics Gerald Myers agreed to the move, which gives Texas Tech its first open date during Big 12 Conference play since November 7 of the 1998 season.
The Red Raiders open the 2004 season Sat., Sept. 4, at SMU, in Dallas.
