Softball Finishes Up Day Two of Tulsa Tournament

TULSA, Okla. - Texas Tech softball finished up play on day two of the Holiday Inn-Select Tulsa Festival in Tulsa, Okla., on Saturday evening at Donna J. Hardesty Sports Complex falling to tournament host Tulsa 5-2.
The Lady Raiders (6-15) drew first blood in the contest in the top of the second inning when Elyssa Sigala slammed her third home run of the tournament over the fence in right field. Brandy Moulin followed Sigala with an infield single and scored two batters later on a base hit by second basemen Britney Stolle to give Tech a 2-0 lead.
In the bottom of the third, Keely Tucker (3-5), who had retired the first eight batters of the game, ran into some trouble. With two outs a single followed by a double put runners on second and third with two outs. Tucker was helped out of the inning by a diving catch in right field by Ashley Parker to end the inning and keep the Golden Hurricane off the scoreboard.
Tulsa would get on the board in the bottom of the fourth inning and tie the score up at 2-2. Stephanie Sliepen led off the inning with a single and was followed by clean up hitter Katie Torres who send a Tucker pitcher high over the fence in left field to knot the score.
In the bottom of the fifth inning, Tulsa would take the lead by scoring three runs off Tucker. After a strikeout to begin the inning, Tucker allowed the next five batters to reach base on four hits and a walk. Tucker would give was to Erin Crawford, who entered in relief and retired the next to two batters by strikeout to end the inning. Crawford would strikeout five of six batters she faced in relief.
Texas Tech softball will be conclude play at the Holiday Inn-Select Tulsa Festival tomorrow when they take on Centenary at 11:30 a.m.
