LUBBOCK, Texas - Sophomore Katja Kovacic was named Big 12 tennis player of the week for the week of March 16, announced yesterday by the Big 12 Conference . Kovacic hails from Kranj, Solvenia, and is currently in her second season with the Lady Raiders.

Kavacic is undefeated in the singles arena for the spring season and boasts a record of 8-0. In recent action Kovacic ousted Mary Barry, 7-6 (3), ret., of No. 48-ranked Missouri Saturday. Kovacic also got the better of Judith Diaz, 6-3, 6-3, in the upset of No. 65 Kansas State on March 6.

Kovacic and the Lady Raiders are in full force this weekend, March 19-21, as they take on Texas-El Paso, Air Force, and Baylor at the McLeod Tennis Center in Lubbock.
