LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's tennis team prepares to host Texas-El Paso, the Air Force Academy, and Baylor this weekend at the McLeod Tennis Center. All matches are scheduled to begin at 11 a.m. The Lady Raiders will take on UTEP Fri., March 19, Air Force Sat., March 20, and Baylor Sun., March 21.
As the Lady Raiders head into a three-match weekend, they are sitting on a rank of No. 75, and are prepared to take on all three teams with confidence.
"UTEP and Air Force are both well coached teams. We are going to take one match at a time playing with high energy and a great desire to perform up to our high standard," stated head coach Cari Groce. "With two days rest the team will be ready to go for the three back to back duals. We are as excited as ever to play those matches at our outdoor facility and in front of our supporters."
After a loss to No. 48 Missouri and a win against Kansas on the road this past weekend, Tech's current spring record is 6-3 and 2-2 in Big 12 Conference play. The Lady Raiders have struggled on the doubles court and were unable to claim a doubles victory over the last two matches.
"We are going to change the combinations at one and two this weekend to see if we can't jump start those positions a bit," said Groce.
Baylor is currently ranked No. 35 and will be the fifth conference match for the Lady Raiders.
"Baylor is a very tough Big 12 opponent, and we will have to go out and perform well," stated Groce. "I believe in this team and they believe in themselves, so you can count on a battle for sure."
