Baylor/Tapitio Springs Shootout

LUBBOCK, Texas - At the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout in San Antonio, Texas, the No.51-ranked Lady Raiders have fallen to second place. Tech shot a 305 second round total, 17 over-par to finish the day led by junior Sheila Mendez who is in second overall.

Mendez carded a second-round score of one-under-par 71, to finish the day at even-par 144. Sophomore teammate Hazel Tan stands tied for 15th, eight-over-par 152, while Tech junior Megan Hull finished tied for 21st-place, shooting 10-over-par 154. Senior Jackie Ey struggled in the second round falling out of the No.1 individual position to a 36th-place tie, shooting 13-over-par 157. Kim Kolb, junior, shooting 16-over-par 160, finishes the second round tied for 51st.

Tech's individual competitors Leslie Wall and Christine Kovalcik are tied for sixth and 77th, respectively. Freshman Wall, shooting a six-over-par 150, moved up 15 spots after she shot a second-round score of 73 to break into the top 10. Kovalcik shot a second round score of 85, shooting 21-over-par 165.

Tech (601) enters the third round in hopes of closing the gap between it and first-place Indiana (591). Missouri (third-606) shot a 300 second round to move past host Baylor (fourth-607). Rollins College (fifth-304) rounds out the top five.

Tech did not compete in the Baylor shootout last season, but looks to claim its second tournament title in three years after winning the event in 2001-02. Tech returns to action at the Baylor-Tapatio Springs Shootout Sunday with a final round of 18 holes beginning at 7:14 a.m. at Tapatio Springs Golf Resort, par 72. Results Listed Below:
