LUBBOCK, Texas - Sophomore Erin Crawford pitched her seventh complete game of the season, a two-hit shutout, to propel Texas Tech softball to a 3-0 win and a sweep of New Mexico State in a doubleheader at Rocky Johnson Field Wednesday afternoon.
Natalie Enderlin put the Lady Raiders (19-20; 1-1 Big 12) on top in the bottom of the first inning. With Elyssa Sigala on first after a walk, Enderlin drove a pitch over the head of the center fielder to drive in Sigala and put Tech on top 1-0.
In the bottom of the second, Tech struck again to push its lead to 2-0. Freshman Brandy Moulin drew a lead off walk and scored three batters later on a two-out double by shortstop Heather Parker.
Natalie Kula led off the third inning with a single off the glove of the third baseman. A walk issued to Sigala and a single by Kelly Rhyne would load the bases for Tech before Moulin would send a pitch deep to right field for a sacrifice fly and a 3-0 Lady Raiders advantage.
Crawford (9-6) surrender only two hits and would permit only two Aggies beyond first base in the contest. She finished the game with six strikeouts, while walking three.
Sigala, who was walked twice during the game, went hitless to snap her school-record hitting streak at 21 games.
Texas Tech Softball will take to the road for a Big 12 Conference series against the Kansas Jayhawks in Lawrence, Kansas, this weekend. The weekend's games are slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday and 12 p.m. on Sunday.
