LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech men's golf team heads to Laredo, Texas, to compete in the Border Olympics this weekend at the Laredo Country Club. Tech hopes to capitalize on its second-place finish two weeks ago at the Carter Plantation Intercollegiate with solid play this Friday and Saturday.
Sophomore Andrew Dresser (71.47) continues to lead the Red Raiders, followed by senior Brad Jacobson (71.7) and freshman Oscar Floren (72.90). Tech is currently averaging 292 per round of competition.
Tech competed in the Border Olympics last year, finishing 17th out of 20 teams with a team score of 888. Host Texas A&M returns this year having won last years Border Olympics with a team total of 859. The No. 37-ranked Red Raiders will face tough competition in a 17-team field that includes No. 14 BYU, No. 19 Arkansas, and No.38 Texas A&M.
The Border Olympics holds the title as being the nation's second oldest college golf tournament. The 54-hole event will begin on Friday April 2nd with a morning 36-hole shotgun start, and will conclude play Saturday April 3rd.
