Baylor Pitches Past Tech Softball, 4-0

WACO, Texas - The Lady Raider offense was held in check by Baylor pitcher Cristin Vitek, who won her 21 game of the season, as the Bears defeated Texas Tech softball 4-0 at Getterman Park in Waco, Texas.
Baylor (35-9; 5-2 Big 12) got on the board in the bottom of the third inning off Tech starter Erin Crawford (9-8). A one-out double by Kelly Osburn gave the Bears a base runner, and Osburn came around to score on a single two batters later to give Baylor the 1-0 advantage.
In the bottom of the fourth, the Bears took advantage of a defensive miscue by shortstop Heather Parker to push their lead to 2-0.
A two-out walk come back to hunt Tech in the bottom of the sixth inning. Following the walk, a single put runners at first and third with one out and Baylor scored on a wild pitch and single in the inning to increase its lead to 4-0.
The Lady Raiders (19-23; 1-4 Big 12) attempted a rally in the top of the seventh, loading the bases with a single and a pair of walks, but Vitek closed the door, getting Lisa Lawler to ground out to end the game.
Crawford finished the game with five strikeouts, while yielding three earned runs in route to throwing her ninth complete game of the season. Vitek (21-4) struck out 11 and permitted only four Tech hits in the complete game effort.
Texas Tech Softball will wrap up its series with Baylor in game two tomorrow at 1 p.m., at Getterman Stadium in Waco, Texas.
