Texas Tech vs. Kansas State
Postgame Notes
Sunday, April 18, 2004
- Texas Tech's three-game sweep of Kansas State was its second three-game sweep of the season (first since the opening series against Campbell) and the first Big 12 sweep since dropping Baylor in three games to conclude the 2002 regular season.
- The series win over Kansas State was Tech's first since 2001 as the Wildcats had won the last two series (2-1 in both 2002 and 2003). The series sweep of KSU was the third since the two teams began play in the Big 12 back in 1997.
- Texas Tech continued its success on Sunday as the Red Raiders are now 8-0 on the season including a 3-0 mark in Big 12 play.
- Tech's five-game Big 12 win streak has vaulted the Red Raiders into no worse than fifth place and a possible tie with Oklahoma State for fourth (depending on outcome of Kansas/Oklahoma State game that went into extra innings late Sunday). The Red Raiders entered last weekend's series against Nebraska in ninth place but were just a half game ahead of Kansas who was in 10th.
- The staff ERA dropped 24 points over the weekend as Tech allowed just five earned runs in three games. Tech's ERA is now 4.28.
- Mary Anne Wilkinson was the winner of the Big 12 Giveaway Weekend Grand Prize. She and a guest won two all-tournament passes to the Big 12 Tournament as well as hotel accommodations.
- Junior shortstop Cameron Blair extended his current hitting streak to nine games while Jose Delgado and Josh Haney moved their hit streaks to eight games.
