Postgame Notes
Sunday, April 25, 2004
- Senior hurler Corey Gerstner picked up the win for Texas Tech in relief and finished the weekend with both a win and a save. He tallied a perfect 0.00 ERA in five innings of relief and allowed just four hits and struckout three.
- The extra-inning game was Texas Tech's first at home and just the second of the season. Tech is now 2-0 in extra-inning games as the Red Raiders beat Houston 12-7 in 11 innings back on Feb. 14 in the Minute Maid College Classic in Houston.
- Texas Tech has now won three consecutive Big 12 series including two over teams ranked in the nation's Top 15 (then No. 12 Nebraska and No. 13 Oklahoma).
- Josh Haney finished the weekend with a .467 batting average as he was 7-for-15 at the plate with two doubles, a home run and seven RBI.
- Today's attendance of 4,040 was the second-largest crowd at Dan Law Field of the season, however, the three-game total of 10,120 was a season high - surpassing the Clemson series that drew 9,850.
- The series loss by Oklahoma was just the third of the season and its second in Big 12 play as the Sooners lost the opening series to Texas 2-1.
- Texas Tech (8-6 in Big 12 play) has solidified its spot in fourth place of the current Big 12 standings behind Texas, Oklahoma and Oklahoma State.
- Texas Tech matched its entire conference win total from last season today as the Red Raiders won their eighth game in league play. Tech finished the 2003 season with an 8-18 record in Big 12 play.
- The Red Raiders improved to 9-0 on Sunday with today's 6-5 win.
- Texas Tech has now totaled three last-at-bat wins this season (Jose Delgado against Northern Illinois on Feb. 20, Josh Haney against Houston on March 23 and now Ryan Andrews today against Oklahoma).
