
Men's Golf In Ninth After Day One

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No.35th-ranked men's golf team fell from a fifth-place ranking after the first round, to end the day ninth at the Big 12 Championships in Hutchinson, Kan. Texas Tech shot a two-round score of 597, and enter the third round just five strokes out of the top five. Oklahoma State and Texas lead the pact tied for first shooting 577.
True freshman Oscar Floren (70-74) leads all Tech golfers tied for fifth individually, shooting four-over-par, 144. Andrew Dresser, sophomore, is tied for 22nd, shooting nine-over-par, 149. Sophomore William Haddrell (77-75-152) and Shaun Melville (76-77-153) sit in a 40th- and 44th-place tie. Haddrell shot a 12-over-par, while Melville carded a 13-over-par performance. Chris Pace (76-80-156) rounded out the last of the Red Raiders tied for 53rd, shooting 16-over-par.
The Red Raiders will continue their quest for a top-five finish tomorrow at the Prairie Dunes Country Club with a morning start Tues., April 27 for the last 18 holes of the championships.
