Dresser Leads All Tech Golfers At The Maxwell

LUBBOCK, Texas - The 36th-ranked men's golf team shot a 300-289-589 to open the first day at The Maxwell in Ardmore, Okla. The team will enter the third-round of play tomorrow 10 strokes out of the top 10. Tournament host and No.8 Oklahoma State leads all teams in first with a two-round score of 549 while Tech sits in 14th overall.

Leading the Red Raiders is sophomore Andrew Dresser who finished the day in a tie for 33rd. Dresser shot a pair of 72 rounds to end the day four-over-par, 144. Oscar Floren (72-73), freshman, posted a two-round score of 145 to complete day one in a tie for 41st. Floren ends the first two-rounds five-over-par. Junior Chris Pace shot a 76-73-149 for a tied for 64th-place first day performance. Pace ended the day nine-over-par. Tech senior Brad Jacobson and sophomore William Haddrell finished tied for a 73rd- and 76th-plac finish, respectively. Jacobson (80-72) carded a two-round score of 152, 12-over-par while Haddrell (81-82) finished 13-over-par, 153.

In Tech's fourth appearance in The Maxwell the Red Raiders will enter the final round of play with hope of improving on their 12th-place finish from a year ago.

The Red Raiders will begin the final day of the Maxwell at the Dornick Hills Country Club (6,453 yards, Par 70) with an 8:00 a.m. shotgun start. The Red Raiders will then head to the Central Regionals in West Lafayette, Ind., May 20-22.
