Texas Tech vs. Baylor
Postgame Notes
May 22, 2004
- Texas Tech has clinched the No. 3 seed in the upcoming Big 12 Tournament with the 19-18 win over Baylor today. Tech's win coupled with Oklahoma State's loss means that Tech can finish no worse than tied with the Cowboys but will have the tiebreaker by virtue of last weekend's series win in Stillwater. The Red Raiders will play an undetermined opponent at 10 a.m. on Wednesday.
- With the exception of last season, Texas Tech has never finished lower than fifth place in the league and will be the Big 12 No. 3 seed for the second straight time (last in 2002 as Tech did not make the tournament in 2003).
- The 37 runs was the most combined team runs in a single game since Feb. 5, 2000 - a 23-17 loss to New Mexico State.
- Texas Tech has now scored 19 or more runs seven times this season and the 19 runs tied the most in a Big 12 game as Tech defeated Kansas 19-7 on May 1.
- Cameron Blair ties a career high with four hits, five RBI and two home runs.
- The 19 runs were the most allowed by Baylor since 23-18 loss to Missouri on April 19, 2003.
- Adam Fry despite pitching just 1/3 of an inning, collected his second win of the season. His only other decision was a win over Houston on Feb. 14.
