Missouri Ends Tech Win Streak At Seven Games

LUBBOCK, Texas - Missouri scored two runs in the final two innings to escape with a 5-3 win over No. 25 Texas Tech on Saturday night in front of 4,012 fans at Dan Law Field. The win evens the series at 1-1.
The loss snaps Texas Tech wins streak at seven games as the Red Raiders fell to 32-14 on the year and to 12-7 in the Big 12. Missouri improves to 28-18 and 7-12 in league play.
Missouri scored two runs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead as the Tigers scored on a wild pitch by Tech starter Dallas Braden and an RBI single by second baseman Trevor Helms.
The Tigers pushed their lead to 3-0 in the top of the fifth as Braden loaded the bases and then plated Helms on a balk call by the third base umpire.
Down 3-0, Texas Tech started to chip away at the Tiger lead as Madison Edwards reached on a fielding error and then scored on an RBI single by Cameron Blair that cut the lead to 3-1.
Texas Tech came back and tied the game in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI double by third baseman Josh Haney and a fielder's choice RBI groundout by Jose Delgado.
The score remained tied at three until the top of the eighth when the Tigers scratched out a run on an RBI single by Jeremy Herandez. Lee Laskowski gave Missouri an insurance run in the top of the ninth when he hit a solo home run over the left field wall.
John Milton (3-1) suffered the loss for Texas Tech as he allowed on earned run on three hits in three innings of relief work. Mark Alexander (2-0) picked up the win in relief for Missouri as he allowed just two hits and struckout five in 2 1/3.
Texas Tech and Missouri will play the rubber match of this three-game series at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Dan Law Field.
