New Faces on the Coaching Staff - Former Texas Tech assistant Carlos Mainord is back (actually returned for spring drills) for his fourth tour of duty with the Red Raiders. Also, head coach Mike Leach added unit coordinator David Emerick to the staff. Emerick comes to Tech from the Houston Texans, where he served as a scouting intern during the franchises' first two seasons (2001-02). He is a 2002 political science graduate of the University of Kentucky and worked with Leach at UK in 1997. Emerick will assist defensive coordinator Lyle Setencich and aid in recruiting efforts.
Big 12 Media Day - Texas Tech will make its annual appearance at Big 12 Media Days on July 20 in Kansas City, Mo. Adell Duckett and Daniel Loper will represent the players at the annual get-together.
