Red Raider Soccer Defeats Midwestern State

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team defeated Midwestern State 1-0 on Sat., Aug. 21, at R.P. Fuller Stadium. This was the first meeting for the Red Raiders and the Lady Indians of Midwestern State, who were dominated by the Tech offense with 12 shots on goal. The game remained scoreless for most of the first half with solid scoring attempts by the Red Raiders. Freshman Priscilla Esquivel tallied four shots on goal and six shots overall. Freshman Ashley reed took one shot on goal and freshman Jenifer Thomas also had one shot on goal. Freshman Kim Cypert scored the lone goal with 14:45 left in the first half. Cypert received a solid pass from freshman Kelcee Cameron and put a goal past Midwestern goalie DeDee Belton. Junior Beth Lippert got the start in goal for the Red Raiders and made one save. Junior Megan Knauss also saw time in the net during the first and second halves. Freshman Tina Rincon finished out the game for Texas Tech making one save.
