Tech Soccer Set For Road Matches

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech women's soccer team will take to the road this weekend as it battles New Mexico, Sat., Sept. 4 at 2 p.m. and Portland State, Sun., Sept. 5 at 2 p.m. at the UNM Soccer Complex. Red Raider soccer is coming off a 1-1 weekend at R.P. Fuller Stadium with a 6-2 victory over Oral Roberts and a 2-0 loss against TCU. In the victory over ORU, five members of the Tech soccer team tallied their first collegiate goal. Freshman Priscilla Esquivel scored two goals in her first collegiate contest. In Tech's loss to TCU, freshman goalkeeper Tina Rincon made four saves during the second half. The Lobos of New Mexico are also coming off a 1-1 weekend with a win over Cincinnati and loss to Purdue. In the last meeting between the Lobos and the Red Raiders, during the 2002 season, New Mexico defeated Texas Tech, 2-1. The Vikings of Portland State opened their season with a 2-0 loss against Boise State. In the last meeting between the Vikings and the Red Raiders, during the 2000 season, Tech defeated Portland State, 5-0. "We are playing two games in two days. We need to make sure we take it one game at a time. They are going to be two tough games. We need to be prepared and play with better intensity then we did against TCU in the first half", said Texas Tech head Coach Felix Oskam about the weekend on the road.
