LUBBOCK, Texas - Red Raider football fans were largely responsible for Tech's success on the field last season as they came out in masses to help the program establish a record average attendance for the season. Texas Tech is looking for repeat of the past season as the 2005 season ticket campaign kicked off today with the mailing of renewal notices to current season ticket holders.
The Red Raiders are coming off of an unprecedented third-straight season with eight or more wins and an impressive 45-31 win over then-No. 4 California in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. The program also has appeared in five-consecutive bowl games and has won the last three.
Once current season ticket holders receive their renewal notices, they will have until April 4 to renew and guarantee the same seats for the 2005 season. From April 5-7, Red Raider Club members who are season ticket holders will have the opportunity to upgrade their seat locations, before the general public upgrades take place April 8. New season ticket sales will begin April 13.
The 2005 season ticket process actually began Jan. 4 as those planning on purchasing season tickets for the first time were given the opportunity to get on a reservation list and get top priority when new season tickets go on sale April 13. The Texas Tech ticket office will continue to take reservations until that date.
The fan-favorite $99 season ticket returns this year, but is available in two sections of the stadium. A $119 season ticket has been added and will encompass four sections, including a limited number on the west side of the stadium. With the addition of two home games on the upcoming schedule, a $119 season ticket averages $17 per game in 2005 as opposed to an average of $19.80 per game for last season's $99 season ticket.
Additionally, two sections of donor-based seating are now available on the east side of the stadium in sections 18 and 119. A Red Raider Club minimum donation of $100 is required to purchase season tickets in these sections.
In addition to becoming a Texas Tech football season ticket holder, there are many advantages that accompany the purchase of a season ticket. Season ticket holders get priority to buy tickets for away games and bowl games; get priority for preferred parking; get Tech Talk, a twice weekly e-mail on Texas Tech football; get future promotion for season ticket holders; get payment plan opportunities for all season ticket purchases; and get reserved seats for six home games.
Football season tickets can be renewed on-line at www.texastech.com. To renew on-line, current season ticket holders should 1) have their invoice readily available along with account number and pin; 2) log-on to www.texastech.com and click "RENEW SEASON TICKETS ONLINE" on the front page; and 3) follow the provided instructions. If problems arise, those wishing to renew season tickets should contact the Texas Tech Athletic Ticket Office at (888) GO-BIG-12 or (806) 742-TECH.
Texas Tech hosts seven home games for the first time since the 2000 season when the program welcomed eight opponents to Jones SBC Stadium. The Red Raiders kick off the season with four-straight home games against Florida International (Sept. 10), Sam Houston State (Sept. 17), Indiana State (Sept. 24) and Kansas (Oct. 1). Kansas State (Oct. 15), Texas A&M (Nov. 5) and Oklahoma (Nov. 19) round out the home schedule.
Individual game tickets will go on sale Aug. 11 through the Texas Tech Athletics Ticket Office, with the exception of the Texas A&M game, which will be available Sept. 12. Those tickets also will be available through all Select-a-Seat outlets, including United Supermarkets.
