
Red Raiders Head to Arkansas with National Rankings

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Track and Field will compete in Arkansas Invitational in Fayetteville, Ark, Sat., Feb. 12. Events will start at 9 a.m. and run until 10 p.m.
The University of Arkansas will host a variety of teams this weekend as many major conferences will be represented. Baylor, Kansas, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Texas will be the Big 12 rivals competing with the Red Raiders. The Nebraska women are ranked eighth and the Texas women are ranked 12th. On the men's side, Baylor and Nebraska are tied at 21st and Texas is ranked fourth. Five of the top ten men's teams will be competing in Fayetteville. Four of the top ten women's teams, including No. 1 Stanford, will also take to track this weekend.
Going into this weekend's meet, the men's squad is ranked tied for 11th and the women's squad is ranked tied for 21st on the Trackwire Top 25. The Dandy Dozen rankings include Tyree Gailes in the 60M in sixth place, Jonathan Johnson in the 800M in second place, Shereefa Lloyd in the 200M in the ninth place and Licretia Sibley in the 400M in fourth place.
In the field events, Lacy Wilson is ranked 10th in the high jump and in the pole vault, Sage Thames is ranked eighth. Also ranked are the men's and women's 4x400M relay teams in third and sixth place, respectively.
At the Wes Kittley Invitational, Licretia Sibley set a new school and ATC record in the 400M with her mark of 52.41, .01 seconds away from automatically qualifying. Shawon Harris broke a 17-year-old record in the 55M hurdles with his clocking of the 7.40 in the prelims. He went on to run a 7.41 in the finals of the event. Jonathan Johnson set a new ATC record in the 600Y with his time of 1:09.62, replacing his previous record of 1:09.84.
