LUBBOCK, Texas - Following an annual review of Texas Tech head coach Mike Leach and the Red Raider football program, Tech Director of Athletics Gerald Myers said today that the department is looking at making changes in the existing contact for the sixth-year head coach.
"We are proud and pleased of the progress of our football program," Myers said. "Coach Leach and his staff have done an outstanding job. We are happy that he is our coach and want to have him in that position for a long time."
Leach led the Red Raiders to an 8-4 season in 2004, capped off with a 45-31 win over fourth-ranked California in the Pacific Life Holiday Bowl. The bowl win marked an unprecedented third-straight bowl win for the Red Raider program and the eight wins marks the first time in school history that Tech has posted three-straight seasons of eight or more wins.
Details of the changes are still being evaluated and are unavailable.
