LUBBOCK, Texas - Shooting consecutive rounds of 280, the No.23 Texas Tech men's golf team holds onto its top five place at the John A. Burns Intercollegiate in Wahiawa, Hawaii. Freshman Tyler Symons, with his 68 second-round, leads the Red Raiders with a tied for eighth-place finish after two rounds.

No.6 New Mexico takes the top position on the team leaderboard with a two-round score of 549. Rounding out the top five are No.27 Arizona (553-second), No.14 UNLV (556-third), BYU (557-fourth) and Tech and San Diego State tied for fifth with a 560 two-day score.

Leading the Red Raiders is Symons (70-68-138) with his career-lowest round of a 68. Symons' 68 also is keeping the Raider in the hunt for his first career top-10 finish. Falling in the second round was sophomore Oscar Floren who shot a second round 71 to finish the day tied for 18th. Floren (69-71-140) is followed by junior Nicolas Allain (72-71-143) tied for 38th, junior Andrew Dresser (74-70-144) tied for 50th and senior Shaun Melville (69-77-146) in a tie for 66th.

The final round of 18 holes will begin at 8 a.m. tomorrow, with all team and individual ties to be broken by a sudden death playoff.
