Red Raider Soccer Inks Four on First Day

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Women's Soccer announced the signing of four student-athletes, as yesterday marked the initial day for the National Signing Period for football and women's soccer.
Chessa Purser, a native of Odessa, Texas, was a member of the ODP North Texas State Team from 2000-2002. The forward then joined the ODP South Texas State Team for the 2003 and 2004 seasons. She was also a member of the South Texas team that played against the U-21 Mexican National Team. At Cy-Fair high school, Purser was the team offensive MVP, the district's leading scorer and led the district in assists in 2003 and 2004. She was named first-team all-district in 2003 and offensive player of the year in 2004. Purser also set the career goal record during the 2001-2004 seasons.
Kellye Robertson, a native of Dallas, Texas, was a member of the Dallas Texans 87 Red for the 2002-2004 seasons. The forward was also a member of the ODP North Texas State Team for the 2002-2004 seasons. Robertson also spent the 2001-2003 seasons with the Region 3 team. At Midland Lee high school, she was all-district 4-5A during the 2002 season and all-district 3-5A during the 2003 season, as well as district offensive MVP in 2002.
Lauren Fricks, a native of Arlington, Texas, was a member of the Dallas Texans 87 Red. Fricks and the Dallas Texans 87 Red were 2004 regional and state cup champions. They also went to Nationals in 2004. The forward was also a member of the 2003 ODP state team. At Mansfield Summit high school, Fricks was a member of the Region 1 all-region team during the 2002-2004 seasons.
Rachel Schwind, a native of Texas City, Texas, was a member and a four-year captain of the Challenger 86/87. The team was four-time state champions and competed in the Snickers Regional Cup twice. Schwind was a member of the ODP Region 3 pool during the 2002 season and a member of the state team in 2004. She also participated in the Region 3 camp for four seasons and played against the Mexican National Team in 2004. At Clements high school, the midfielder was named first-team all-district in 2004, second-team all-district in 2003 and was named to the Corpus Christi all-tournament team and the Woodlands all-tournament team.
"We are pleased to welcome our 2005 class to Texas Tech", said head coach Neil McGuire. "Each will bring a special quality which will enhance our program's ability to compete in the Big 12. We are fortunate that, not only are they elite level soccer players, but exceptional young women."
