Red Raider Track and Field Dominate Wes Kittley Invitational

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Texas Tech track and field team hosted the Wes Kittley Invitational at the Athletic Training Center Saturday and finished the meet with 16 first-place finishes, eight provisional qualifying marks, two school records and five ATC records.
In the field events, Tori Polk placed first in the long jump with a mark of 19'-6.75". Olivia Clardy threw a mark of 52'-2" in the weight throw, good for a first-place finish. Brad Kring won the weight throw with his toss of 56'-10". All-American Sage Thames won the pole vault with his jump of 17'-3.5". Lacy Wilson won the high jump with a height of 5'-9.75".
Shawon Harris set a new school record in the 55M hurdles with his prelim time of 7.40. He then went on to win the finals with a mark of 7.41. Tyree Gailes clocked two more provisional qualifying times in the 55M dash with his clockings of 6.19 in the prelims and the finals. The times of 6.19 match his current ATC record.
Olympian and National Champion Jonathan Johnson won the 600Y for the second week in a row with his clocking of 1:09.62, a new ATC record. All-American Licretia Sibley set a new school and ATC record, as well as marked a provisional qualifying time, with her clocking of 52.41 in the 400M. Sibley missed automatically qualifying by .01 seconds.
All-American Shereefa Lloyd and Sibley clocked provisional qualifying times of 23.63 and 23.70, respectively, in the 200M.
Stefanie Calhoun won the mile with a time 4:57.13, beating the other competitors by more than eight seconds.
The men's and women's 4x400M relays ran provisional qualifying times again this weekend. The men's relay, Johnny Jacob, Michael Mathieu, Jonathan Johnson and Andrae Williams, ran a 3:07.12, their third provisional qualifying mark in as many weeks. The women's relay, Tia Barginear, Shereefa Lloyd, Tori Polk and Licretia Sibley, clocked a 3:39.45.
Texas Tech track and field will continue competing next week as they travel to Fayetteville, Ark. for the Tyson Invitational.
