Red Raider Softball Hosts Oklahoma City on Tuesday

LUBBOCK, Texas - The Red Raiders will host Oklahoma City in a doubleheader on Tues., March 22 at 3 and 5 p.m. to begin a six game homestand. Tech is 16-9 on the season.
Tech is coming off a 4-0 weekend of tournament play at the New Mexico Tournament in Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Red Raiders were lead by freshman Whitney Riley at the plate as she went 7 for 13 with one triple and two RBI. Also hot at the plate for Tech was freshman Jennifer Bowers who went 7 for 14 with one triple and three RBI.
The pitching staff was lead by junior Erin Crawford who pitched 10 innings with eight strikeouts and three walks. Crawford pitched one complete game for Tech and went 2-0 on the weekend and posted an ERA of 0.90. Also on the mound for the Red Raiders was junior Julie Hauck who pitched 9.2 innings with two strikeouts. Hauck posted an ERA of 0.00 for the weekend and a 1-0 record.
Four Red Raiders made the All-Tournament team at New Mexico. Freshman outfielder, Whitney Riley, junior pitcher, Julie Hauck, junior pitcher, Erin Crawford and freshman second baseman Jennifer Bowers was tournament MVP.
SCOUTING TEXAS TECH
The Red Raiders are lead by freshman Jennifer Corkin at the plate. Corkin is batting .324 at the plate with eight doubles, one triple and two homeruns over the season with 20 RBI. Corkin also leads the team with 180 putouts as she splits her time at first base and catcher. The pitching staff is lead by junior Erin Crawford as she has and ERA of 2.58 with a 9-4 record. Crawford has 69.2 innings pitched with 58 strikeouts and 17 walks.
SCOUTING OKLAHOMA CITY
Oklahoma City is 17-6 on the season and is lead by Cat Calvert who is batting .444 on the season with five doubles and five homeruns with 18 RBI. Also at the plate is Kate Beasley who is batting .419 with five doubles, one homeruns and 13 RBI. In the circle is Melissa Rhodes who has posted an ERA of 2.07 in 61 innings of work. Rhodes has 54 strikeouts with 17 walks and a record of 8-2.
The Red Raiders begin conference play against Baylor on Fri., March 25.
