LUBBOCK, Texas - Junior right-hander Brian Wyatt has been named the Big 12 Co-Pitcher of the Week following a dominating performance against the eighth-ranked Texas A&M Aggies on Saturday. Wyatt joined Baylor's Mark McCormick on the Big 12 list while Nebraska's Alex Gordon was named Hitter of the Week.
Wyatt, a native of nearby Amarillo, made just his second start of the season on Saturday against A&M and helped give the Red Raiders a series win over the Aggies as Tech prevailed 1-0. He tossed a complete game shutout allowing just six hits and never let an Aggie baserunner moved past second base.
Saturday's game was just his fifth appearance of the season as he was sidelined for almost six weeks due to a case of mononucleosis. He earned a starting nod against USC two weeks ago after earning two straight wins in relief. In his two starts, Wyatt totals an ERA of 1.20 through 15 innings and has allowed two earned runs on 10 hits and struckout four.
