Five Lady Raiders Receive Big 12 Honors

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech women's basketball had five student-athletes receive All-Big 12 recognition, announced today by the league office. Senior Cisti Greenwalt and junior Erin Grant were named first team All-Big 12, while junior Chesley Dabbs was selected to the second team. Junior LaToya Davis and sophomore Alesha Robertson were named honorable mention All-Big 12.
Greenwalt, a native of Clovis, N.M., is receiving her first all-conference honor. The 6-5 center leads the Lady Raiders in scoring with a 13.6 average and in rebounding at 9.3. She is the Big 12 and Texas Tech all-time leader in career blocks with 288. Greenwalt also set Big 12 and Tech records for blocks in a single season as she has 93 blocks on the year. This season she has registered 10 double-doubles and has scored in double figures in 20 games.
The Arlington, Texas, native Grant became Texas Tech's all-time career leader in assists and currently has 621 career assists. She leads the Big 12 in assists per game at 6.8 and has been first and second all season in the conference in assist/turnover ratio. Tech's floor general has dished out 10 or more assists on five occasions this year, including a career-high 15 at Texas A&M Jan. 30. Along with her 6.8 assists per game, Grant is averaging 8.0 points per outing. This is Grant's first first-team selection as she was second team All-Big 12 in 2004.
Dabbs is getting her first league honor being named to the second team. The Plano, Texas, native is second on the team in scoring at 12.5 and is shooting 81.4 percent from the free throw line for the Lady Raiders. She has scored in double figures in 16 games this season. Her tenacious defense has established her as on of the best defenders in the Big 12 Conference.
Getting her first Big 12 recognition is Davis, while Robertson was named honorable mention in 2004 as well. Davis, a native of Houston, Texas, is averaging 12.2 points per game for Tech and has scored in double figures in 19 of 26 games she has played in this year. She is shooting a team and Big 12-high 61.8 percent from the field and is second on the team in rebounding at 7.2 boards per outing. Robertson, who hails from Plainview, Texas, is tied for second on the team in scoring with Dabbs at 12.5 points a game. Robertson has started all 27 games along with Dabbs and Greenwalt (Grant and Davis missed one game each with injuries). Robertson has put up double digits on 16 occasions and is shooting a team and league-high 85.7 percent from the free throw line. Earlier this season she set a school record for three-point baskets made in a game with nine en route to scoring a career-high 37 points against Miami (Fla.).
No. 13/13 Texas Tech, 21-6 overall, will take on the winner of the Iowa State-Colorado game in the quarterfinal round of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Conference Tournament in Kansas City, Mo., March 9, at 2:30 p.m. at Municipal Auditorium.
