Tech Golf Struggles at Louisiana Classic

LUBBOCK, Texas - The No.25 Texas Tech men's golf team, after a first-round finish of a tie for fourth, fell to sixth overall at the Louisiana Classic in Lafayette, La., today. The three-round event was cut short after a rain cancellation forced the 54-hole event to just two rounds of play at the Oakbourne Country Club.

Tech (292-300) finished the event with a score of 592, shooting 12 over par as a team and three Red Raiders finishing in the top 30.

Junior Tyler Symons led the charge for the Red Raiders posting his second-consecutive top-10 finish in two weeks with his tied for ninth-place outing, making it only his second of his career as a Raider. Symons (71-75-146) was followed by sophomore Oscar Floren (75-74-149) and junior Nicolas Allain (73-76-149) who finished tied for 36th.

Rounding out Tech's five competitors were juniors William Haddrell (77-75-156) in 45th place and Andrew Dresser (73-83-156) in a tie for 61st.

Leading the field was SMU with a team score of 582. Rounding out the top five were Tulsa (583) and Kent State (583) tied for second, followed by Kansas (586) and Louisville (586) tied for fourth.

The Raiders take a long break before returning to action as they travel to Austin, Texas, for the Morris Williams Invitational April 4-5.
