LUBBOCK, Texas - The Big 12 Conference announced this afternoon that senior shortstop Cameron Blair has been named the Phillips 66 Co-Big 12 Player of the Week following an outstanding weekend against the Oklahoma State Cowboys.
Blair, a senior from Dallas, helped lead the Red Raiders to a crucial 2-1 series win over the Cowboys this past weekend at Dan Law Field. Blair finished the weekend with a .500 clip after going 5-for-10 with four walks, a double, two stolen bases, three home runs and five RBI. He became the first Red Raider to tally back-to-back seasons with double-digit home runs since Nick Blankenship back in 2001 and 2002. Blair now totals 25 home runs in his career and that ranks eighth all-time at Texas Tech.
Blair shared the weekly honor with outfielder Gus Milner of Kansas while the pitcher of the week went to J. Brent Cox of the University of Texas.
Texas Tech returns to action on Wednesday as the Red Raiders host the Hardin-Simmons Cowboys at Dan Law Field. First pitch is set for 3 p.m.
