Annual Red-Black Game Kicks Off Saturday

LUBBOCK, Texas - An array of events and activities surround this weekend's annual Red-Black Game, scheduled for Sat., April 16, at Jones SBC Stadium. The day gets underway with the always popular alumni game at 12:30 p.m., followed by the spring game at 1 p.m.
LifeGift Organ Donation Center is the game sponsor and NextMedia Lubbock is the media sponsor. Admission is free to the game and the first 3,500 fans will receive a free roster card. Additionally, an autograph session will immediately follow the spring game on the field.
Among the presentations planned for halftime include recognition of the No. 9 nationally-ranked Texas Tech men's tennis team, which is hosting No. 1 Baylor at 6 p.m. Saturday night. LifeGift also will be recognized as the game sponsor, while the Texas Tech football program will make a special presentation.
An auxiliary group of volunteers called "Friends of Ronald McDonald House Charities" will host a cookout prior to the spring game in the Raider Alley area. Hamburgers, cookies, soft drinks and water will be available on a donation basis. Ronald McDonald will fly in to attend the event. There also will be a football toss competition with a prize going to the winner.
Additionally, the ticket office in the north end of Jones SBC Stadium will be open from noon-2 p.m. for those interested in purchasing season tickets. For more information on tickets for the 2005 football season, contact the ticket office at (806) 742-TECH or (888) GO-BIG-12.
