Lubbock, Texas - The Texas Tech Women's soccer program is building a strong future with added vigor in 2005 both on and off the field.
Under the guidance of new head coach, Neil McGuire, new assistant coach, Brian Zwaschka, and veteran assistant, Jamie Woods, the Red Raiders are experiencing efforts to build a renewed vision of their own while supporting the community enhancing vision of Lubbock Habitat for Humanity.
This Saturday, April 16th, from 9 a.m. to noon, these dedicated soccer players and the coaching staff will be volunteering their time and skills towards the completion of a new home located at 2104 Dartmouth in Lubbock.
This effort is considered analogous to McGuire's plans for a more unified team. "We have shown tremendous growth in our first nine weeks of training together already," said head coach Neil McGuire. "Taking part in an event such as this reminds us of our basic necessities. It demonstrates the value of teamwork and a unified cause. This team embodies a spirit beyond the playing field and the time we volunteer will be another step towards not only a successful fall season, but also towards the unselfish character necessary to keep this soccer program and the community strong for the future."
