Greenwalt Drafted by Sacramento in 2005 WNBA Draft

LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech center Cisti Greenwalt was drafted in the third round as the 35th overall selection in the 2005 WNBA Draft today by the Sacramento Monarchs. Greenwalt was one of eight players from the Big 12 Conference drafted.
Greenwalt, who was a first team All-Big 12 selection, led Texas Tech in scoring (12.9), rebounding (8.6) and blocks (3.3) this season. The Clovis, N.M., native started all 32 games in 2004-05 for the Lady Raiders and scored in double figures in 22 of those games. Greenwalt also recorded 10 double-doubles this year.
Greenwalt concluded her career at Texas Tech as the all-time career leader in blocked shots with 300. She also is the Big 12 Conference's career leader in blocks. In 2004-05, she set the Tech single-season block record with 105. Her 1,100 career points ranks 18th all-time at Tech, while her 789 career rebounds ranks seventh.
Minnesota's Janel McCarville was taken by the Charlotte Sting as the number one overall selection in the 2005 draft followed by Mississippi State's Tan White (Indiana) and TCU's Sandora Irvin (Phoenix). Rounding out the top five were the Big 12 Player of the Year Kendra Wecker of Kansas State selected by the San Antonio Silver Stars and Sancho Lyttle of Houston picked by the Houston Comets.
Other Big 12 Conference players drafted today included: Oklahoma's Dionnah Jackson (13th, Detroit), Iowa State's Anne O'Neill (30th, Sacramento), Texas' Jamie Carey (31st, Phoenix), Kansas State' Megan Mahoney (34th, Connecticut), Baylor's Steffanie Blackmon (38th, Seattle) and Texas' Heather Schreiber (39th, Los Angeles).
