LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech head women's basketball coach Marsha Sharp announced that sophomore-to-be Megan Morris signed a financial aid statement to play basketball for the Lady Raiders for the upcoming 2005-06 season.
Morris, a 6-2 forward/center from Brownsville, Texas, played at South Plains College during the 2004-05 season where she averaged 17 points and eight rebounds as a freshman. She helped lead the Lady Texans to a fourth-place finish at the 2005 National Junior College Tournament. It marked the first time the Lady Texans had made it to the National Tournament since Sheryl Swoopes led them in 1990.
"We are excited Megan decided to join our program," Sharp said. "She had a great year at South Plains and was part of a great team. Her junior college experience will be important to our post play. It is also an added bonus that she still has three years of eligibility remaining."
