This morning I woke up at 1:45 a.m. Australia time and then tried to go back to sleep for four more hours. I finally got up at 6:30 a.m. I am still trying to get adjusted to the time change. Erin Myrick and I then headed down stairs for breakfast. It was a great buffet. I ate some rice, croissantwiches, fish and bacon and drank some apple juice. It was really good. We then went back to our room and watched videos for a couple hours.
At around 10:30 a.m. we went on a tour of the Sydney Opera House. It's extravagant! It has one billion fifty-six thousand small tiles that make up the outside sails. The whole building is made up of concrete. We took lots of pictures from the outside because it was across from the Sydney Harbour Bridge. There was a beautiful view of the bridge and the water, unfortunately they wouldn't let us take cameras into the Opera House, but take my word it was amazing. There were cushioned seats all around the stage. The cushions on the seats were violet color that brought life to the concert hall. We saw two other theatres as well. The smallest one is used for plays and the medium size one is used for all other things like tap dances, flea circuses and drum shows.
After the tour the majority of us went to The Rocks. The Rocks is said to be the oldest settlement in Australia. It was pretty cool. There were really old buildings and pubs. The neatest thing I thought was the old police station that has been turned into a souvenir shop. It smelled really good at The Rocks. The aroma of garlic bread and pizza was in the air.
Once I left The Rocks, I walked over to the Pitts Street Mall. The tennis shoes were like $200 or more and it was funny because Erin Myrick nearly had a heart attack because of the price.
We had a pregame meal at Alfredo's where they served us three different pastas. We had ravioli, a penne pasta dish with tomato sauce and meatballs and a spiral noodle pasta with crab meat and alfredo sauce - that was my favorite.
Then it was time to get ready for the game. We came back to the hotel and got dressed and taped and then hooped it up! We played the Australian Junior National Team and won the game 81-73. We played pretty well considering it was like 4 a.m. in Lubbock. We play again tomorrow against the same team. They are pretty good. Wish us luck!
