We woke up this morning and went down to eat breakfast. Alesha (Robertson) and I are still not very used to the time change. We usually wake up about 4 a.m. and talk for a minute. At breakfast I decided that I would try vegemite. I had already heard that it was an acquired taste and you are supposed to use just a little bit on toast. So Alesha and Stephanie (Webb) got it all ready and they both chickened out after a whiff. I took one small bite and I couldn't even explain the horrible taste.
After breakfast, we took a ferry to Manly Beach. Alesha, Steph and I decided we would fight the cold and try surfing lessons. I think the temperature was about 12 degrees Celsius today. So after Alesha acted like she was a Baywatch babe for a while, we made it to the surfing place. We made it just in time to get into a small surfing class. We put on our wetsuits and stretched with our class. After instructions, we were off to the waves. It took us a little while at the beginning, but we started to pick it up. By the end of the day, we were ripping the waves like Blue Crush surfer babes. After about a two and a half hour lesson, we had gotten a good workout and drank a gallon of salt water.
It was time for us to get back on the ferry so we ran all the way to the station, but we still missed it. It was only a short while until we made it back to Circular Quay (the area where our hotel is). We stopped at a small sandwich shop and then headed for the hotel.
When we got back to the hotel, we took a shower to get all the salt off. The surfing pretty much wore us out for the day so we ordered a pizza and took a nap. Alesha said I was talking in my sleep. We finally woke up and did a little shopping. We bought some kangaroo jerky that we hope to take back to Lubbock for our family and friends to try.
It was a great day. I am so excited I got the opportunity to go surfing in Australia.
See you when we get back!
