Lady Raiders Crush Southern Districts, 85-46

BRISBANE, QLD, Australia - Alesha Robertson scored a game-high 18 points in leading the Texas Tech women's basketball team to an 85-46 victory over the Southern Districts Spartans today at the Clem Jones Center in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia. The Lady Raiders improved to 3-0 on their Australian tour.
Tech was too much to handle for the scrappy Spartans as the Lady Raiders jumped out early and took a 27-9 lead at the end of the first quarter. Tech got its biggest lead of the second quarter of 33 points at 51-18 just before the conclusion of the half. The Lady Raiders went in at halftime with a 51-19 edge.
In the second half, Tech got it largest lead of the game at 81-35 in the fourth quarter before handing the Spartans a 39-point defeat at 85-46.
Along with Robertson's 18 points, five other players scored in double figures. Tawanna Flowers finished with a double-double with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Also scoring in double figures were Chesley Dabbs with 15, Judith Smith with 13 and LaToya Davis and Erin Myrick with 10 points apiece. Davis grabbed nine rebounds and Flowers tallied six steals. Erin Grant dished out five assists.
The Lady Raiders shot 48 percent from the field (36-75), 29.6 percent from three-point range (8-27) and 83.3 percent from the free throw line (5-6). Southern Districts shot 37.5 percent from the field (18-48).
Next up for the Lady Raiders is the Sydney Flames on Thurs., June 30, at 7 p.m. in Brisbane.
