Today we went to the Australia Zoo. It is the home of the Crocodile Hunter, Steve Irwin. We started off the day going to the Crocoseum where we saw a snake, tiger, bird and a crocodile show. The tiger show was interesting because they played and acted like they were small animals. They reminded me of dogs at home. After they did something good they got a treat and when the trainers brought out the bottles full of milk, the tigers went bananas. It was really cute because they held it just like a baby would. After that, there was a crocodile show where the trainer showed how the crocodiles swim and get their food. The trainer would hold the food and stand at the edge of the pond and the croc would get out and come close to get the food. They said the croc couldn't run that fast when it is on land but you couldn't out swim him. I thought the show would have been more interesting if something wrong would have happened and the croc would have chased the trainer.
After all the shows were done, we walked around the zoo. We went to the kangaroo area, but Judith and I were a little nervous because there was nothing to protect us from the kangaroos. You could go up to them and pet and feed them but that was a little too close for me. I heard that one of them was chasing Presley (Pharies), Melinda's daughter. Some of the kangaroos had babies in their pouches. It was really weird because you could see an extra set of feet hanging out of their bellies. It looked very uncomfortable for the kangaroos. Then we went to see the koalas. You could pet them and take a picture with them. They looked really cute from far away but when I saw them up close, they looked old and mean. I guess I might look like that if all I did was crawl up and down the trees all day long. We went to the tiger den and while we were there two tigers were fighting each other. They said that they were brother and sister. I felt a lot safer because there were gates and fences there so that no animals could attack us.
Once we left the zoo, we returned to the hotel and were free to do whatever we wanted to do so of course, I went shopping. Tawanna and I had to find a bathing suit so that the next time we go to the beach we could get in the water.
There are so many shops going in every direction that I was in heaven. I have noticed that a lot of them are surfer shops. I guess that is because we are around the water. They have some casinos here too and you only have to be 18 years old to go. I thought about trying my luck but I don't know how to play any games, so I decided to pass on that.
It was another fun day in Australia and I'm really enjoying my trip. Tomorrow we have another game and it is our last day in Brisbane before leaving for Cairns. We'll keep you posted on our trip.
