Lady Raider Basketball Announces Non-Conference Schedule

The Texas Tech women's basketball team has announced its 2005-06 non-conference schedule. The Lady Raiders will open the season by hosting the prestigious State Farm Women's Tip-Off Classic Nov. 13 as Tech will play Louisiana State (LSU) and Big 12 foe Baylor will take on Georgia in Lubbock.
Tech's non-conference schedule includes six home games and five road contests. The Lady Raiders could face eight teams (LSU, Louisville, Ole Miss, Oral Roberts, Penn State, Rice, Stanford and Virginia Tech) who appeared in the NCAA Championship last season and Fresno State who competed in the postseason WNIT.
"Our non-conference schedule will test us for Big 12 play, and it will be a challenge for us to win the scheduled road games," stated Sharp. "We are playing quality teams on the road at Penn State, Mississippi, Rice and the teams in Cancun, and certainly have a challenging opportunity against LSU and Stanford at the United Spirit Arena. Our fans will see two high quality teams in LSU and Stanford, headlined by great players such as Candice Wiggins (Stanford) and Seimone Augustus (LSU). We know that playing this quality of competition will prepare us for the Big 12."
After the match up with LSU, Tech will host Southeast Missouri State Nov. 18 and then travel to Rice Nov. 21 and Mississippi Nov. 23. The Lady Raiders return home for two games against Stanford Nov. 27 and Sacramento State Dec. 1. On Dec. 4, Tech will play at Penn State and at home versus Oral Roberts Dec. 15. Prior to the Christmas break, the Lady Raiders will head south of the border to Cancun, Mexico, to compete in the Caribbean Classic Dec. 19-20. Pairings have not been set, but Louisville, Virginia Tech and Western Michigan are the other three teams participating in the tournament. The final non-conference game will be a home contest with Fresno State Dec. 29.
Big 12 Conference games and television games are yet to be determined.
