The Red Raiders put the final touches on their preseason camp on Aug. 20 as they downed West Texas A&M, 2-0, in an exhibition match at R.P. Fuller Stadium. Freshman Chessa Purser highlighted the evening, as she tallied both of the team's goals in her first action as a Red Raider. Redshirt freshman Amy Mathiak and junior Ana Morton each chipped in with assists in the match, while senior goalkeepers Megan Knauss and Beth Lippert combined their efforts in goal and kept the Buffaloes off the scoreboard. Senior forward Kimmie Davis was very active on the offensive end against West Texas A&M, taking six shots in the game.
Tech returns 10 starters and 15 letterwinners from last season's squad and is also boosted by the addition of nine newcomers. Sophomore forward Priscilla Esquivel returns after leading the team with seven goals and 15 points in 2004. Midfielder Ashley Reed is back after posting an impressive freshman campaign, which saw her tally four goals and nine points. Senior Karen Stephens enters the season with a streak of 53 consecutive starts in the Tech midfield, while juniors Meghan Blume and Ana Morton and sophomore Alex Aton return to bring experience to the Tech defense.
