LUBBOCK, Texas - Texas Tech Baseball and Softball fans filled the Lubbock Memorial Civic Center today for the Fifth Annual Tech Hecklers First Pitch Luncheon, an event aimed at raising money for both programs.
Just over 500 fans were in attendance today at what has quickly become one of the premier luncheons in the city of Lubbock. The Tech Hecklers have donated the proceeds to this event to both baseball and softball since its beginning back in 2002.
Today's program included remarks from the Tech Hecklers, John Askins of the College Baseball Foundation, Jim Sundberg and Brian Shouse of the MLB Texas Rangers as well as coaches Teresa Wilson and Larry Hays.
The 2006 Red Raider Baseball season gets underway next Friday as Tech will battle Louisiana-Monroe in a three-game series at Dan Law Field (Feb. 3-5). Tech softball will throw out the first pitch on the road against Jacksonville on Feb. 9 in Jacksonville, Fla.
