Lady Raiders Beat UTSA in Season Opener

LUBBOCK, Texas (AP) - Jordan Murphree scored 17 points as Texas Tech beat Texas-San Antonio 66-58 Friday night in the season opener for both teams.
The win gave Lady Raiders head coach Kristy Curry her first win at the school after taking over for longtime coach Marsha Sharp.
Tech built a 20-point lead at the 8:17 mark when Raquel Christian put Tech up 56-36.
Tech came out on a 20-8 run to start the second half, scoring on nine straight possessions. But the Roadrunners used a 16-2 run, including 10 points by Terrie Davis, to pull within six points with 3:45 remaining in the game. But they would get no closer.
Brooke Baughman and Chesley Dabbs each scored 15 points for Tech (1-0).
Erin Myrick got 13 rebounds to lead the Lady Raiders. Vivian Ewalefo scored 18 points to lead the Roadrunners (0-1) and Terrie Davis added 16 points. Tech lead 28-21 at halftime.
